May Highlights at StoriesClick: Captivating Moments

We are already halfway through the year. Where is 2024 racing to?

May started quickly for us at StoriesClick, marking a month full of exciting projects and new ventures that truly showcased our dedication to brand storytelling through words and visuals.

Photo Shoot in Belfast: On May 8, we traveled to Belfast for a captivating photo shoot documenting the Arulebas’ fifteenth wedding anniversary. It was thrilling to be in Northern Ireland, even if only for a few hours, capturing the love and joy of such a special occasion.A remote for a fun robot being usedCoLab Launch for Create Central: On May 9, we immersed ourselves in the CoLabLaunch for Create Central, documenting the event through writing, photography, and short videos. This project was particularly exciting, as it allowed us to explore and highlight unique creative production businesses in the West Midlands region.Find the videos here, here, and here. Learn more about CoLab here.Poetry Video “Bang Bang”: We also worked on a powerful poetry video called “Bang Bang” by Mafoya Amogunla. Shot primarily on an iPhone, this poignant piece draws attention to the plight of children caught in adult wars. This demonstrates our commitment to meaningful storytelling through media.Networking and Events: While we admittedly lagged on social media content in May, our physical networking efforts were robust. We attended the West Midlands Ownership Hub launch and Culture Central’s Heritage X Arts Connector, connecting with industry leaders and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the West Midlands.

Unlock the Power of Content: Give it Nine Lives!

Let’s talk about the art of maximising your content’s impact – giving it the longevity it deserves! 🌟

Content remixing is one way of making your content last as long as you want. It is one way of giving your content a new purpose. Here are my top tips on how to give your content not just one life, but a whopping NINE! 🐱✨

We use our coverage of the HSBC X NIYO’s Black History Month event as an example. Haha, they must be tired of us now as we are constantly tagging them on the content from the event again and again. Can’t help it, it was an exciting one with so many highlights.

Content repurposing makes your content amazing with every refresh

1️⃣ Quality Over Quantity: Start with compelling high-quality content. Think of it as the foundation – the stronger it is, the more lives it can sustain. You know what happens to weak foundations, right? For us, this started with high-quality pictures.

2️⃣ Craft evergreen content: This ensures it remains valuable to your audience, regardless of trends. In our case, we have so far extracted three content types.

3️⃣ Repurpose: Turn that blog post into a podcast, a video, an infographic, or even a webinar. Different formats reach different audiences and breathe new life into your message. Of course, this depends on what aligns with your client’s needs.

4️⃣ Social Media Roulette: Share across platforms strategically. Tailor your content for each channel, making it native and engaging for every audience. Of course, what worked for IG, likely won’t work for Twitter; so, adapt the content to the platform.

5️⃣ Timing is Key: Don’t let your content become a ghost. Keep it alive by reposting strategically. Share it during different times, days, and seasons to catch new eyes. Imagine the possibility of sharing the same post on Andy Street, the West Midlands Mayor’s birthday (June 11). Or even re-sharing it during a future women-focused event? Or highlighting it again whenever HSBC supports women-owned businesses?

6️⃣ Interactive Content: Encourage participation! Quizzes, polls, and Q&A sessions keep your audience engaged and invested in your content for the long haul. I have not used this one for this particular event but the possibilities are there.

7️⃣ Optimise for SEO: Ensure your content is search engine optimised. This boosts its visibility and increases the likelihood of it being discovered over time.

8️⃣ Update and Refresh: Content doesn’t have to be static. Regularly update it with new information, insights, or perspectives. This signals to your audience that you’re committed to providing the latest, especially when you centre them.

9️⃣ Community Engagement: Foster a community around your content. Encourage discussions, respond to comments, and create a space where your audience feels heard and valued. Remember, the key is to be strategic, consistent, and adaptable. Give your content the attention it deserves, and it’ll repay you with not just one, but NINE incredible lives! 🌈✨

Shutter Stories: October Unveiled Through Our Lens

Welcome to Shutter Stories.

Every month, we will document our experience across writing and photography the previous month.

October was Black History Month and was chockful of events celebrating Black people around the world. Tagged Celebrating our Sisters, BHM2023 was committed to celebrating black women doing amazingly across their fields.

HSBC X NIYO Black History Month Founders Event

We are starting our report from behind, from our coverage work on October 30,  2023. At the HSBC headquarters in Birmingham, we covered the HSBC X NIYO Black History Month Founders event which celebrated black female founders in the region.  There was a panel on what it means to be a black woman in business in the UK.

There was also a business pitch competition. Five businesses–eniye_beame (@meetbeame) of Beame, @ufeli_ani (of Gapeless / @gapeless), Ayanda Sibanda (Connxct_), Sola Efuwape (Nolla) and Pamela Aculey (Just like Me Books / @just_like_me_stories)–one winner. However, most of the business ideas are ideas that the world needs and will eventually find their place. Just give them time, they are all winners.

Andy Street, the Mayor of West Midlands (@andystreet_mayor) also had some encouraging words for the entrepreneurs in the region. The event was a good reminder that extraordinary Black women have always broken barriers, and shattered ceilings, and continue to rise. Catch all the tea on our Instagram.

Other events we covered in Birmingham were arts, research, and networking-related.

B Music Open Mic event featuring amazing poets from Birmingham on October 5. It was really nice to learn about the spoken word space in Birmingham. Capturing the moments within the Music space was quite a delight as well. Catch the highlights here.

The Reclaim Network research project at Digbeth Canals.

Friday, October 13, 2023, took us to the underbelly of Birmingham canals. Yes, the places many cities hide away from camera lenses.  It was a delight to meet people interested in the canals; see the beauty of graffiti and small patches of land devoted to aquaculture around the Digbeth Canal. It was a rainy day in November so we did what we could. Pictures here.

Creative Circle to get our creative juices flowing. Thursday, October 26 was an early morning breakfast and networking session by Creative Alliance. Called Creative Circle, it is a networking session for creatives in the West Midlands. So, yes you can be grabbing a quick snack and chatting with your next client. Yes, that kind of setting. It was relaxing and fun. Shots here.

Until next time,

May your stories continue to click.
